IMPI conducts formal and substantive examinations of utility model patent applications. There are three ways to submit an application to INPI: online application, mailing and submitting a written application to INPI in person. INAPI conducts formal and substantive examinations of designs. After completing the formality examination, the applicant must extract the extract and publish it in the Official Gazette by INAPI within 60 working days. Any interested party can file an opposition to the patent application within 45 days after publication. Within 60 days after the end of the opposition period, no matter whether there is an opposition or not, the substantive examination fee must be paid and the payment voucher must be submitted to the Chilean Patent Office. • Grant fee: The applicant should pay the announcement fee and the first annual fee (that is, the annual fee for the first to fifth years) within 3 months after receiving the notification of the granted decision.
• Annuity: Pay the annual fee for the next 5 years every 5 years. If the annual fee is overdue, you can pay it within a grace period of 3 months, and pay 30% of the annual fee for the current year as a late fee.
